The Robert Bosch Stiftung is turning 60 - find out more about Robert Bosch's legacy, the history of the Foundation and our mission. We will also keep you up to date on current activities in the anniversary year.
During his lifetime, Robert Bosch was already engaged in promoting the common good. As a citizen, he wanted to help shape society, take responsibility, and improve living conditions for people. He funded the Stuttgart Technical University, founded the Robert Bosch Hospital, which carries his name, and supported the German Association for the Promotion of Public Education, the forerunner of today's adult education programs. Politically, he supported Franco-German reconciliation and worked against anti-Semitism, among other causes.
This June, we are celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Robert Bosch Stiftung, which is rooted in the legacy of the successful entrepreneur and benefactor. In his legacy, Robert Bosch formulated a twofold mission: to ensure the successful development of his company on the one hand and to continue his social commitment on the other. The relationship between the company and the Foundation is still based on this principle today. Together, we invest in the future.
Today, the Foundation is still committed to promoting peaceful coexistence in the world, good healthcare and fair educational opportunities. We want to make a lasting impact in the areas of health, education and global issues. However, we cannot initiate effective change on our own. That is why we work closely with partners around the world. The International Alumni Network (iac) connects the Bosch community online: former and current fellows, grantees and employees of the Robert Bosch Stiftung and its partners, find a platform for exchange and networking across different areas in the Bosch Alumni Network.
"As a foundation, we have a special privilege: we can be courageous and prudently take risks – always with the aim of making the greatest possible difference for a better future. That is the basis of our legitimacy. We – the approximately 170 colleagues at the Robert Bosch Stiftung – have created an efficient organization aimed at this purpose. "
With great foresight, Robert Bosch did not leave us with rigid guidelines, but rather a mandate to constantly review our work and adapt it to current challenges. Our anniversary is a good opportunity to shed light on this: Where have we made a lasting difference over the past six decades? I would be interested to hear your views.
