In brief

About the project

The Migration Strategy Group on International Cooperation and Development (MSG) is a joint initiative of The German Marshall Fund, the Bertelsmann Stiftung, and the Robert Bosch Stiftung. It brings together about 25-30 representatives of various German federal ministries and other relevant actors at regular intervals to discuss current migration-related foreign and development policy issues.

Current insights

Since 2020 the MSG focuses on how digitalization and technological development will likely change migration management and policy going forward. In 2022 the forum Dialogue on Tech and Migration (DoT.Mig) was inaugurated. It brings together experts of public administration, civil society and the private sector and opens a space for interactive, honest, and thought-provoking exchange. By hosting tech trainings and publishing briefs, the forum aims at connecting the dots between digital technologies and their use and impact on migration.  Please find related publications below.
