„Making teaching better“ is the motto of this year's competition. More than 80 schools from all over Germany and the network of German schools abroad applied. A jury of educational scientists, school practitioners and educational administrators has now selected 20 schools to move on to the next round.
20 schools from all over Germany can hope to win the German School Award. In the coming weeks, teams of jury members will examine all the TOP 20 schools. The experts will hold talks with teachers, students and parents, and visit lessons and projects. Based on these visits, the selection committee will nominate up to 15 schools for the German School Award 2022. The nominations will be announced in early July.
The nominated schools will take part in the award ceremony with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin on September 28, 2022. It will then be decided who will receive the coveted prizes. The main prize is worth 100,000 euros, the other four prizes 30,000 euros each. All nominated schools that are not awarded one of the five prizes will receive a recognition prize of 5,000 euros.
