Immigration and Digitalization

Digitalization and social media are seen as drivers of social division and isolation. But at the same time, they can also improve cohesion. Three projects we are supporting show that people with a migratory history are particularly using digital media, digital tools and digital services to network in Germany and overcome social barriers. Cross-border Facebook groups, empathetic chatbots, migrants as coaches at counseling centers: this dossier focuses on Germany’s immigration society in 2022.
