This report is the result of the work of the Academy
fellows over the past eight months. Given that the Academy has been a German–
American partnership, it made sense to have
the fellows take a closer look at the broader
challenges in German–American relations at
the beginning of a new U.S. administration.
It also allowed the Academy to examine the
changing nature of German leadership and its
role in a Europe in unusual flux.
