In brief

About the project

Across the globe, state borders are increasingly being controlled, and migrants and refugees are denied safe and regular means to travel as well as access to international protection. Restrictive migration policies and border policing have caused significant harm to migrants and their communities and violated human rights. The recently founded Geneva-based NGO Border Forensics develops and employs new techniques and technologies to document violence against migrants at borders. The project aims at drawing attention to this issue and seeks accountability for border violence to bring states to end harmful practices. The project is part of our work on digital technologies and human mobility.
