Robert Bosch Stiftung refocuses support activities

Stuttgart, December 19 – As a major European foundation, Robert Bosch Stiftung GmbH aims to make a relevant contribution to improving societal conditions in its support areas. Following the realignment of its international activities, the Foundation will now also strengthen its focus on strategically selected topics in the support areas of health, society, and education. This was decided by the Foundation’s Board of Trustees at its meeting in mid-December 2019.

In the support area of Health, the Foundation will in future work on “Health Care System for the Future” and “People in the Health Care System”. In the support area of Society, which will be renamed Active Citizenship, the focus will be on “Democracy” and “Immigration Society”. In Education, the Foundation will primarily support “Learning” and “School Development”.

“Our founder Robert Bosch made it part of our mission to frequently review our own work and adapt it to current social challenges,” explains Prof. Dr. Joachim Rogall, Chairman of the Management Board of the Robert Bosch Stiftung. “This recent refocus is in keeping with the mission. We are convinced that it will make the support we provide more effective.”

The focus on significantly fewer topics than before is the result of a comprehensive strategy review at the Foundation. In the coming months, it will structure its support in the new topic areas, develop action approaches, and set up the first pilot projects.

Back in July 2019, the Board of Trustees had adopted new topics for international activities. In the support area of International Understanding and Cooperation, the Foundation will in future work on “Conflicts”, “Climate Change”, “Migration”, and “Inequality”.

In the support area of Science and Research, the strategy process is still ongoing and will be completed by summer 2020.
