Research on sustainability and digitalization is to be systematically pooled with a view to fostering new and forward-looking system and transformation knowledge for globally sustainable development. Led by Technische Universität Berlin’s Faculty of Sociol-Ecological Transformation and Sustainable Digitalization and the Einstein Center Digital Future, a European network of scientific actors is to be established. It will spend two years working on key issues of sustainable digitalization. Participants will analyze the current state of research, highlight areas in which interdisciplinary research is required, and formulate research questions. Besides developing high-quality and application-oriented research in this area, the project intends through greater inter- and transdisciplinary pooling of sustainability and digitalization research to serve also as an alternative to the existing networking forums, most of which have hitherto had an economic policy focus.
