In brief

About the project

Policy coherence in this regard is still hard to define. There are more questions than answers. What tools could foreign policy or development policy employ and coordinate in each phase? What does trilateral coordination with countries outside the EU look like?

The Migration Strategy Group on International Cooperation and Development convenes actors from various ministries and relevant stakeholders within Germany, as well as from the EU level. Together they reflect on the policy intersections and identify, if possible, potential fields for action.
The MSG has the goal of looking into these questions and discuss possible solutions. Answers to these questions could aid in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as well as the development of a Global Compact on Migration. Results have also be featured parallel to the German co-presidency of the Global Forum on Migration and Development in June 2017.
