Climate Change

We promote a regenerative world, in which life and livelihoods are sustained by a just transition of land use – in keeping with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement.

The Situation

The climate crisis is amplifying social and environmental challenges and constitutes an increasing risk to the stability of societies. Soils, water, and ecosystems are vital to the existence of humankind and for the climate system, but they are under extreme pressure all over the world due to rising demand, unsustainable land use, and the growing impacts of climate change. A rapid, far-reaching and equitable transformation of land use is essential for sustainable development and climate-neutral societies.

The Goal

We advocate a just transition and a fundamental paradigm shift in the realm of land use: We promote solutions that protect the climate, conserve ecosystems, enable participation, and dismantle inequalities, by focusing on regenerative practices in agriculture and forestry, a climate-friendly food system, and sustainable policies and frameworks. Our funding addresses both synergies and trade-offs and fosters societal acceptance of this challenging transition.

Our Strategy

We support international actors who strive to achieve an equitable transformation of land use, address issues of distribution, and develop innovative solutions that can be upscaled. In order to pool resources and create synergies, we work together with (philanthropic) alliances toward systemic change. We strengthen the capabilities of affected groups and support transformative collaborations between actors from different parts of society.
