About the project
The 2017 Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD), which took place in Berlin from June 28 to July 1 under the joint chairmanship of Germany and Morocco, was themed "Toward a Global Social Contract on Migration and Development". Even if its resolutions are not binding, the Forum provided civil society in Germany with a platform to engage in the debate about migration and development and to make its own positions heard, both in Germany and globally. The Robert Bosch Stiftung, together with the Verband Entwicklungspolitik und humanitäre Hilfe (VENRO), the umbrella organization of development and humanitarian aid NGOs in Germany, championed the systematic support of the GFMD process by German civil society. To this end, civil society organizations were assisted in giving shared issues greater visibility and in obtaining a stronger position in the GFMD process.
