The possibilities and limits of integrating refugees have become key policy issues in Germany and Europe. Current political debates and discussions among experts focus primarily on the social and economic dimension of integration (language, education, and employment). The spectrum of civil and political participation is notably less present. To counteract a marginalization of refugees at an early stage and account for civil and political participation, the Robert Bosch Stiftung is supporting the project led by the "International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance" (IDEA). International IDEA is engaged in a global research project on the possibilities and limits of political participation for refugees.
