Access and exposure to arts and culture can change our view of the world, ourselves, and others, improve our capacity for dialog, and open up new ways to shape the world and take action. Especially considering the complex social changes of our time, cultural education offers great potential to shape and process new developments. The Rat der Kulturellen Bildung (Council for Cultural Education) aims to raise awareness of this intrinsic value of education, as well as foster its recognition. It is an independent council of consultants that brings together expertise from academia and artistic practice. In doing so, the council considers itself a platform for open and critical thinking and exchange. Its goal is to highlight the general social importance of cultural education and give arts a stronger voice in the education policy debate. Arts and culture should not be reserved for certain social groups, but be available to all members of society.
