About the Project

The American Days have been held regularly in Stuttgart and the surrounding area since 2008. During the festival, which lasts approximately two weeks, the American Days present the United States and its culture, putting both into the heart of Stuttgart life with a variety of exhibitions, films, readings, and panel discussions. As a result, regional associations and initiatives are given a platform to present their America-related activities to the general public and get people excited about the USA and German–American relations. The American Days 2018 mark the 10-year anniversary of the culture festival, which remains unparalleled nationwide. The grand opening will see the New York-based Battery Dance Company on stage at the Theaterhaus Stuttgart. More than 90 partner organisations and over 80 different events give the public the chance to experience and to contribute to transatlantic relations. The Deutsch-Amerikanisches Zentrum/James-F.-Byrnes-Institut e.V. in Stuttgart is responsible for coordinating the American Days, which are funded by the Robert Bosch Stiftung as well as the German state of Baden-Württemberg, the state capital of Stuttgart, and the US Embassy in Berlin.
