About the Project
The American Days have been held regularly in Stuttgart and the surrounding area since 2008. During the event, which lasts approximately two weeks, the American Days present the United States and its culture, putting both into the heart of Stuttgart life with a variety of exhibitions, films, readings, and panel discussions. As a result, regional associations and initiatives are given a platform to present their America-related activities to the general public and get people excited about the USA and German–American relations. The American Days 2016 had different highlights, including a performance of the German opera singer Helene Schneiderman in the town hall of Stuttgart. Numerous social and cultural events gave the public the chance to experience and help shape the amicable relations with the United States. The Deutsch-Amerikanisches Zentrum/James-F.-Byrnes-Institut e.V. in Stuttgart is responsible for coordinating the American Days, which are funded by the Robert Bosch Stiftung as well as the German state of Baden-Württemberg, the state capital of Stuttgart, and the Consulate General of the United States in Frankfurt.
