Day-care centers currently face many challenges: they have to deal with changing conditions and are confronted with various requirements. Examples include the implementation of educational plans, orientation around family–work balance, and increasing heterogeneity. At the same time, the focus is increasingly returning to quality after the massive quantitative expansion in care centers in recent years. Day-care centers in Germany are currently under considerable pressure to change. Early childhood caregivers face higher demands than ever before.
A good start is a great asset! The foundation for lifelong, successful learning is laid in the first years of life. These initial steps are crucial to a child’s educational development. High-quality education, childcare, and upbringing open up opportunities for children and enable them to take advantage of these chances. The Robert Bosch Stiftung would like to contribute to improving quality with respect to the education, care, and upbringing of children.
In the past, we have mainly focused on academia and research in early education. In the future, we will take a closer look at the practical side and thereby focus on day-care centers in our work. We would like to contribute to the professionalization of the skilled workforce and support institutions in their development as learning organizations. We are mainly concerned with the topics of participation and diversity.
