About the project
In the Head to Head event series, renowned Americans discuss art, culture, and politics with select German public figures. Head to Head invites citizens from the Stuttgart region to participate in the transatlantic dialog.
The Robert Bosch Stiftung has supported the event series since early 2012. The events were carried out by our partner the American Academy in Berlin. In addition, Head to Head is supported by the Berthold Leibinger Foundation, the Georg von Holtzbrinck GmbH publishing group and Dr. Dirk Ippen. Other project partners include the Deutsch-Amerikanisches Zentrum (DAZ), the Evangelische Bildungzentrum Hospitalhof as well as the Literaturhaus Stuttgart.
Up until now, discussions have been held between American literary scholar Leland de la Durantaye and ZEIT editor Ijoma Mangold as well as between Karen J. Alter, professor of Political Science and Law at Northwestern University, and the judge representing Germany at the European Court of Human Rights, Professor Dr. Angelika Nußberger. Futhermore discussions were held with, among others, Professor Dr. Ronald Suny, University of Michigan or different members of the German Bundestag.
