About the project

Cultural diversity has long been a reality at daycare centers, at least in regard to children and their parents. The situation is different, however, for education professionals. Few educators have a migrant background themselves. It is an important goal to reflect our society’s diversity also in the composition of daycare center teams. The “Diversity Welcome” project of the Robert Bosch Stiftung addresses this challenge: It is targeted specifically at immigrants who already have an educational qualification for working with children from their home countries. The program helps them get their degrees recognized and prepares them for working at a German daycare center. At the same time, it provides services to interested daycare centers, most notably team development trainings. This comprehensive range of training and support services for everyday success gives “Diversity Welcome” its innovative momentum.
