Women in Science

Frauenförderung
Over the past few years, the achievements of outstanding female researchers have become increasingly transparent. However, the proportion of women in leadership positions still leaves much to be desired. Although the proportion of female college students is often greater than 50 percent, the number of women among the scientists and academics sinks with each increasing level of qualification.
Of the most highly endowed professorships in Germany, a mere 11 percent are held by women. In Europe, the picture is slightly more positive, although the gender ratio is not balanced here either: The proportion of women in the most highly endowed professorships is around 21 percent.
We promote excellent young female scientists along their academic journey, advocate for an increase in the percentage of women in scientific leadership positions and on academic boards, and help outstanding female researchers become more prominent.
The participants in the Girls’ Campus project are just embarking down the path toward an academic career. With this program, the Foundation arouses the interest of female ninth graders in scientific degree programs and professions.
