In 2004, Robert Bosch Stiftung and the German Marshall Fund of the United States started a program of meetings for members of the German Bundestag and the American Congress. In recent years, political differences between the USA and its European allies have become palpable. Experts regret the lack of discussion between opinion leaders and political representatives on either side of the Atlantic. At the same time, generation change is taking place in the political elites. By establishing the Congress-Bundestag Forum, these developments are taken into account to strengthen the transatlantic dialogue between parliamentarians of both countries. Participants in the forum, which is held every year and alternates between Germany and the USA, study current affairs and talk with decision makers and experts from universities and think tanks.
