Apollinaire Prize -
Prize for Outstanding Achievement in French

The Apollinaire Prize is a prize for students with outstanding achievements in French. The Robert Bosch Stifung uses this prize to support students with a gift for languages, to promote the French language at German schools, and to motivate young people to become involved in German-French relations.

The purpose of the Apollinaire Prize is to encourage students to continue using the French language after they finish school, study French culture, and form cross-border friendships. The Apollinaire Prize is awarded in cooperation with the Literarische Gesellschaft in Karlsruhe (Scheffelbund).

The Apollinaire Prize was advertised for the first time in 2001 in Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, and selected schools in East Germany. In 2002, all high-schools and comprehensive schools in Germany that offer upper secondary education are eligible to compete for the prize. Almost 1700 prizes were awarded in 2005.

Students who win the Apollinaire Prize receive a certificate and book prize in the form of a bilingual anthology of French poetry.
