Seniorpartner in School e.V. - A bridge between the old and young

"Seniorpartner in School" (SiS) was founded in 2001 with the aim of building a bridge between the grandparents' and grandchildren's generations outside the family. The association aims to improve understanding between the generations and develop a new concept of old age. The initiators in Berlin trained senior citizens to act as mediators for constructive conflict resolution in schools. There are currently 73 senior partners in 15 schools in Berlin and two in Potsdam. The senior partners have their own offices and consulting periods. Senior citizens undertake to participate in the program for a minimum of 18 months.
The quality of mediation activity is assured by an in-depth training program and professional supervision.
"Seniorpartner in School" is a member of different European and national networks of volunteer services and has received several awards.
