Esther Kinsky was honored for her complete works and particularly for her novel Am Fluss, which was published in 2014. Uljana Wolf received the Chamisso prize for her complete works, particularly for her volume of poems Meine schönste Lengevitch from 2013.

Talent im Land

Talent im Land - March 10, 2016
A total of 50 young talents were accepted into the Talent im Land - Bavaria (TiL) program. They will be supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and the Robert Bosch Stiftung on their way to earning their high school diploma or university entrance qualification. The aim of the program is to ensure that more young people, who have special challenges due to their personal history, graduate high school with a chance to continue their education.

Since 2005, a panel of representatives from the worlds of culture, academia, and business has selected up to 50 new scholarship recipients each year. The Robert Bosch Stiftung has been running similar programs for almost 15 years. It now covers nine federal states.

More than eight million elderly people receive inpatient care in Germany every year. They often require much more than the usual treatment: 40% of all patients over 65 years of age in general hospitals have cognitive disorders and nearly one out of every five suffers from dementia.

The new professional development program "Ukraine Calling - Dialog and Expertise on Ukraine," a joint project with the European University Viadrina, Frankfurt (Oder), aims to change this. It is oriented toward leading figures in the areas of politics, media, administration, economics, culture, and civil society, and it provides in-depth knowledge of the country’s history, politics, media landscape, language, and literature.

"This Works" Project Completion - June 29, 2016
Social entrepreneurs from all over Europe presented their concepts for combating unemployment to representatives from the worlds of politics and civil society in Brussels, which they had successfully implemented in Italy, Spain, and Greece as part of the project "This Works! Ideas and Solutions for Employment and Recovery in Southern Europe."

"This Works" Project Completion - June 29, 2016
The event focused on finding suitable partners, the establishment of local structures, and on-site counseling and qualification. More than 3,000 people have taken part in "This Works!" training sessions and about 1,500 of them have already found a job.

An Alliance Against Cancer - July 18, 2016
In order to support the fight against cancer, the Robert Bosch Stiftung forged a special alliance together with the Robert Bosch Hospital (RBK) and the Bosch Group. A central component is the new Robert Bosch tumor center (RBCT) in Stuttgart and the planned cooperation with the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ).

An Alliance Against Cancer - July 18, 2016
The Robert Bosch tumor center (RBCT) will become part of the Robert Bosch Hospital and will strengthen the area of cancer research, enabling patients to undergo individualized therapy using modern precision oncology. The Robert Bosch Stiftung is supporting the construction of the RBCT with a total of €24 million through 2020.

For the project “Hilfe, das Volk kommt! Empörung, Engagement, Aufbrüche und Sackgassen,” the three playwrights Ariane Koch (Switzerland), Zainab Magdy (Egypt), and Ahmet Sami Özbudak (Turkey) met for four weeks at the Literary Colloquium Berlin in 2015 and 2016 to reflect on and artistically process their experiences and perspectives on the subject of protest culture.

Hilfe, das Volk kommt! - October 15, 2016
The resulting texts were performed as stage readings in Basel, Cairo, and Istanbul as well as in front of a full house during the “Uniting Backgrounds – Theater zur Demokratie” fall festival at Studio Я of the Maxim Gorki Theater. After the successful pilot phase, the project will continue for another round under the title “Krieg im Frieden” in 2017/18.

The German Senior Citizens’ Award - November 15, 2016
The main prize, endowed with €60,000, went to the LebensPhasenHaus in Tübingen this year. An 11-member jury of representatives from science, society, and related professions selected seven projects from over 146 applications. They were tasked with selecting the best initiatives that provide greater independence in old age via new housing concepts while accounting for a diversity of lifestyles and family formats.
