Transformative Urban and Rural Spaces

Das Thema Stadt Land Raum in der Robert Bosch Stiftung
In the upcoming three decades, global settling dynamics will heavily influence whether or not we will be able to transform our habitats in a just, sustainable, and livable way. Science and research play a pivotal part in this mission by fostering society-related research questions, developing practical solutions and generating visionary ideas.
In order to play this pivotal role, we are convinced that an active empowerment and engagement of citizens, administrative bodies, civil society, and decision-makers in the scientific discourse is indispensable. With our projects, we support such transdisciplinary efforts with the aim of building bridges between science and society and yielding local and sustainable solutions for all parts of society.
We promote the exchange and networking of scientists from all disciplines relevant to the topic. We focus on interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research that rethinks old approaches and toasts new visions. We strengthen thought research leaders and practitioners who aim to make cities and communities fit for the future. We search for bold and creative minds who find viable solutions for today’s and tomorrow’s challenges.
Facilitating and strengthening the active dialogue between science and society is the basis of our work. We promote people-centered science and research, and commit to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly the goal of making cities and communities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable (SDG 11). We currently support projects in German-speaking countries and African networks.
We are active in the following projects
