Palliative Care for Senior Citizens
Attempts to improve the quality of life of people suffering from incurable diseases have been underway for approximately twenty years now. The Hospice Movement, palliative medicine, and palliative care have made great strides in alleviating suffering in the last phase of patients' lives and enabled sufferers to live out their final days with dignity and individual care.
Outside the hospices and palliative care wards, however, the principles and findings of good palliative practice are still not widespread enough. In nursing homes for the elderly and home care, patients rarely receive palliative or spiritual care for the dying.
This is the target of our activities.
