Afrika kommt!

Afrika kommt! is a program for young executives from sub-Saharan Africa. The program supports young experts and managers in acquiring further qualifications and promotes economic collaboration between companies from Germany and the 42 countries south of the Sahara. In 2016 - 2018, for the first time two participants will work in non-for-profit organisations in Germany.

Former German President Horst Köhler and Tilman Todenhöfer, member of the Robert Bosch GmbH supervisory board, brought Afrika kommt! to life in 2008.

The core of the program is a placement in a German company or non-for-profit organisation: The participants spend a total of eight months in their respective host institutions and are comprehensively integrated into the work processes. They also attend German language classes and participate in international management training courses. The host institutions benefit from the expertise of the participants and the international network that results from the program.

As part of the program, ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius and the Robert Bosch Stiftung each organise a weekend seminar in Hamburg and Stuttgart, respectively.

The participating international companies include, among others, Robert Bosch GmbH, Daimler AG, Bayer AG, Continental AG, and Merck KGaA. For the first time, Robert Bosch Stiftung will receive a participant in 2016 - 2017. The program is carried out by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
