A Program for Supporting Local Social Projects in Turkey

The SivilLAB program focuses on social processes outside of Turkey’s biggest cities. Three young, socially committed people from Germany are sent as Robert Bosch SivilLAB Fellows to Central and Southeastern Anatolia since May 2016 for two years in order to conceptualize and implement projects that contribute to strengthening civic cooperation at the local level. The fellows stay in Eskişehir, Kayseri, and Istanbul/Diyarbakır. They are hosted by a local institution - the Tepebaşı Municipality in Eskişehir, the Abdullah Gül University in Kayseri, and Anadolu Kültür in Istanbul/Diyarbakır.

In close collaboration with the host institution and local initiatives, the fellows develop and carry out innovative projects, give new input to the societal discourse, support the professionalization of local civic structures, and initiate networking at a local and international level in order to create sustainable collaborations between Turkey and Germany. There is a particular focus on the younger generation.

The fellows have the opportunity to gain practice-based advanced training in international project management.

SivilLAB is a collaboration of the Robert Bosch Stiftung and the Goethe-Institut Ankara. The Goethe-Institut Ankara supports the fellows and is responsible for the coordination of their stay.
