Exchange Program for Young German and French Journalists

Exchange Program for Young German and French Journalists

Because media coverage has such a huge impact on the way in which countries and their citizens perceive each other, it’s up to the members of the media to engage in sound, well-balanced reporting and thus promote mutual understanding between nations. Particularly when it comes to European integration and identity, collaboration across national borders is an indispensable tool in journalism for breaking down stereotypes and creating new perspectives.

This is where the exchange program for young journalists comes in: in collaboration with Deutsch-Französisches Institut Ludwigsburg, the Robert Bosch Stiftung invites young journalists from Germany, France, and one other country to Berlin and Paris. Following a seminar on regional studies in the host country, the participants complete an internship in German or French editorial departments. They gain practical experience in a new professional culture as well as insight into the local political and social situation. A three-day final seminar in a third country offers the opportunity to share experiences and take part in international networking.

Media companies and journalism schools are invited to recommend suitable candidates. Very good language skills in German respectively French are a requirement for participation. Candidates may not apply directly to the Robert Bosch Stiftung or Deutsch-Französisches Institut Ludwigsburg.
