Exchange Program for Young German and French Journalists

The program seeks to raise awareness of future generations of opinion-makers for French-German cooperation and the challenges with regard to European integration and the growing indifference of European citizens towards European issues. Strong personal contacts and mutual understanding for different cultures and journalistic practices constitute essential preconditions for successful future cooperation. Ten German and ten French journalism students are invited to a one-week seminar in their respective neighboring country and receive a grant for a two- to three-month internship in a German or French editorial department. A further four-day seminar gives both groups the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas and experiences.

The program is run in cooperation with the Deutsch-Französisches Institut in Ludwigsburg and the Ecole de Journalisme at the Institut des Sciences Politiques in Paris.

The participating schools of journalism in Germany and France can propose suitable candidates until the end of the year. The participants are then chosen by a French-German selection committee.
