Theater × Reality

Theater and reality are inseparably connected, since theater is about reality. Theater describes reality – it exposes it. Sometimes theater makes fun of reality, sometimes it defends it, and sometimes it denounces it. And last but not least, theater is itself a slice of reality.

This interdependence is the focus of a new "Theater × Reality" discussion series, being jointly organized by the Robert Bosch Stiftung, the Stuttgarter Zeitung, and the Schauspiel Stuttgart theater. In this context, the theater will become a place of concentrated public exchange of ideas and intense reflection during two to three Sunday matinees per season, where different perspectives from theater and reality will be come together.

The focus of the events will be on discussions between notable figures from the worlds of politics, society, culture, business, and academia on themes and focal points of the plays on the theater’s schedule. By actively involving the audience, the dialog will subsequently be expanded into a debate.
