Media Ambassadors India-Germany

The fellowship program "Media Ambassadors India – Germany" is organized by the Robert Bosch Stiftung in cooperation with the Center for Media Competence at the Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen and aims to attract journalists with an interest in international understanding between India and Germany. Every year, sixteen fellowships are awarded to Indian and German journalists.

Eight journalists each from India and Germany will be chosen in a competitive selection process to be fellows of this program. Each group takes part in a tailor-made, month-long training at an institution in the host country with a focus on media and journalism. The course includes studies on general affairs in the respective host country and on the entire spectrum of journalistic forms of presentation. Afterwards, they spend up to two months job shadowing in renowned print, radio, online, or television editorial teams or media outlets. Selected fellows receive a stipend of 1,500 Euros per month.

The job shadowing at the media outlets of the host country allows journalists to get deep insights into the working styles of the media in Germany and India, respectively. The program also includes field trips, as well as meetings, discussions and forums with important personalities in politics, journalism and society. The aim of the program is to obtain firsthand experience which the Indian and German journalists then use in their coverage back home returning from their stay abroad.

Indian journalists will usually stay in Germany from May to July, German journalists will stay in India from September to November of the respective program years.

The Call for Applications for Indian journalists takes place in fall for the following year, for German journalists in the beginning of the repsective program year. For more information about the application process, deadlines, and selection criteria please visit the website of the program.
