Dana Ranga, born in 1964 in Bucharest, Romania, came to Germany in 1987. She lives and works as a freelance writer, translator, and filmmaker in Berlin. Dana Ranga is being honored for her anthology of poems entitled Wasserbuch (2011). "In her work, she takes a poetic foray through magically unusual – yet still human – deep-sea landscapes. In rapidly alternating perspectives, fish and humans interact in a lyrical game of endless metamorphoses," said the jury.
