Improving integration of immigrants from Turkey
The "Besser integriert" competition for integrating immigrants from Turkey was advertised in 2005. With 470 applications, the response was very high. The competition aimed to identify projects that support the integration of people of Turkish origin in Germany. Local initiatives like associations, schools, kindergartens, and hospitals could enter their projects in the competition. Special emphasis was placed on activities to promote language acquisition, work with children and young adults, educational projects, sports and cultural activities, and social initiatives. A total of 310,000 euros was allocated to this program.
