Sino-German Cultural Network

The Sino-German Cultural Network (www.de-cn.net) is an online platform that represents a new opportunity for Sino-German cultural exchange. By fostering intercultural understanding, the site aims to resolve or at least minimize the contradictions that arise in Sino-German relations, which are characterized by euphoria and excitement on the one hand but also misunderstandings and ignorance on the other.

In 2007 the Goethe-Institut initiated in cooperation with the Robert Bosch Stiftung a bilateral online portal where both sides can speak out, which is a platform for dialog between Germany and China. The Sino-German Cultural Network presents, moderates and reflects upon various perspectives and cultural views of interest to those at the center of Sino-German cultural exchange.

Every few days the “Magazine” publishes bilingual articles in the area of film, literature, music, theater, education, media or architecture about cultural happenings and developments in both countries. In the section entitled “Focus” writers from China and Germany discuss and shed light upon topics of importance to both countries such as demographics or the role of the media. “Ten questions” is a section where celebrities from the German and Chinese cultural scenes talk about their personal ties to the other country. An e-mail newsletter and RSS feeds are also available to inform readers about new content that has appeared and which can be discussed in the forum.
