Why does the Robert Bosch Stiftung fund Border Crossers events?

The events are intended to reach a wide audience, motivating the latter to discuss and develop more understanding for the countries in Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe. Since introduction of the accompanying events in 2005, various events have been carried out in Germany as well as in countries in Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe. In this fashion, the subjects which have been researched locally are brought back into the respective countries, enabling a cultural exchange from different perspectives. An example of some of the funded activities were readings, film presentations and acoustic theater in literature centers, at festivals, in libraries, universities, schools, and in cultural centers. In cooperation with the cultural TV station ARTE, there will be readings with border crossers at both German book trade fairs in Frankfurt and Leipzig.
How can one apply for funding for the realization of Border Crossers events?

The Robert Bosch Stiftung funds the presentation of Border Crossers works at public events. The financial support is applied for by the organizer himself, who should also provide own funding. An organizer may be any of the following: associations, cultural facilities, literature centers, libraries, universities. Before making the specific grant request, the organizer should align the underlying data with the author (for example, the location, date, and format of the event). Prior to the event, the Robert Bosch Stiftung would be pleased to offer a telephone consultation to provide author referrals or regarding organizational questions.

Travel, accommodation, and meal expenses for the authors or presenters may be applied for. Additional funds and/or non-monetary benefits such as room rental, public relations, and the support of the authors must be included by the requesting institution.
