Tarabya Translation Prize

The Tarabya Translation Prize is a joint project between the German Federal Foreign Office, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, the Goethe Institut Istanbul, the S. Fischer Stiftung, and the Robert Bosch Stiftung within the framework of the Ernst Reuter Initiative for Intercultural Dialogue and Understanding.

The dual prize consists of one main prize and one newcomer achievement prize for the best translations of German literature into Turkish as well as Turkish literature into German. Both established translators (main prize: €7,500) and promising up-and-coming translators (newcomer achievement prize: €5,000) may apply.

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey and the Robert Bosch Stiftung grant the main and the newcomer achievement prize for exceptional translations from Turkish into German. Translators will be honored for their extraordinary achievements and their promotion of intercultural exchange between the two countries.
