German-Japanese Elite Exchange Program

The Japanese scholarship program will allow highly qualified university students in any major to acquire a double Master’s degree at Keio University in Tokyo and Martin-Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg. The program - an initiative of the Robert Bosch Stiftung and the German National Academic Foundation - encompasses the comprehensive acquisition of language skills, specialized and regional knowledge, as well as an integrated internship in order to gain preliminary professional experience in Japan.

Applicants should have a keen interest in Japan and Japanese culture. Prior knowledge of Japanese is desirable, but not required. During the semester break, a rigorous training program is held at Bochum University Institute of Intensive Language Training and subsequently at Martin-Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg. The Japanese and German lecturers will also teach regional knowledge and technical language skills. After the academic year focusing on language skills and specialized knowledge at Keio University in Tokyo, an elite Japanese university, the participants will continue to receive support from the German National Academic Foundation.

In addition to paying for travel costs and a stipend to cover living expenses in Tokyo, Keio University’s tuition fees are also covered. The German National Academic Foundation accepts applications until April 1, 2012.
