German-Turkish School Exchange Program
The "German-Turkish Student Exchange Program" allows students from Germany and Turkey to get better acquainted with each other’s country and meet new people. On the basis of their ideas, interests, and future prospects, the students shall collaborate on developing a common project. In this way, they get a direct insight into different cultures, experience lasting encounters, and are exposed to new ideas.
Studies show that the experience gained from international exchange programs shape the personal development and the later lives of young people. Besides linguistic expertise, exchange programs particularly develop intercultural skills and have a positive effect on the students' future job prospects.
The program's goal is to give young people the opportunity to engage with one another's culture. Based on historical and political reasons, Germany and Turkey have an exceptionally close relationship. Yet the two cultures often seem to be alien to each other, even in regions where large groups of immigrants have permanently settled in the other country. Both sides have a great interest in student exchange trips. With this program, the Robert Bosch Stiftung is responding to numerous inquiries.

Beginning in June 2009, the Robert Bosch Stiftung started the new program to promote German-Turkish student exchanges. We are looking for German and Turkish schools that are already in contact and would like to give their students the opportunity - through visits and return visits - to get to know each other's countries, to meet new people, and to be exposed to various new ideas. During the encounter, German and Turkish students shall, on the basis of their ideas, interests, and future prospects, collaborate on developing a common project. Intensive preparation and follow-up work is a prerequisite. For this purpose, one German and one Turkish school must work together as a team. German project partners can now submit applications for themselves and their respective Turkish partners.
