DeutschMobil at Work

The DeutschMobil program was launched during the European Year of Languages 2001 with a simple idea that has proven to be very successful. The DeutschMobil representatives visit primary schools, middle schools, and high schools in France in order to inform about their home country and its culture in a lively and authentic way. Their activities also reach beyond visiting schools. DeutschMobil representatives also visit international book fairs, take an active part in the German-French Forum in Strasbourg and participate in a series of events such as the German Weeks in France, and "Rendez-vous avec l’Allemagne."
 
By now, ten DeutschMobil representatives are active in different regions of France. They are affiliated with the cultural institutions of the Föderation der Deutsch-Französischen Kulturhäuser, and, since 2004, with the Goethe Institutes and French regional authorities. Currently, a DeutschMobil is present at Aix-en-Provence, Bordeaux, Caen, Dijon, Lyon, Montpellier, Nancy, Nantes, Paris, and Toulouse.
  
Since January 2001, the DeutschMobil representatives have visited about 8.350 schools, organized more than 870 parent-teacher evenings, worked with more than 20.600 classes, met more than 525.000 students, and traveled more than 1.000.000 kilometers (Last update: July 2011).
