Informational Journey to India for German Journalists

In the recent past, India, its people, and its culture have often been reported about in Germany. Nevertheless, the German media's reporting still does not match the diversity and the size of India and its population. The German media especially focus on India's economic development and the country's relationship with its neighbors. Beyond that, the success of the Indian movie industry favors a one-sided cultural perception.

In order to contribute to a better understanding of India and promote a more complete and balanced coverage of the subcontinent, in 2009 the Robert Bosch Stiftung conducted a first-time informational journey for German journalists to India.

During the trip to New Delhi, Bangalore, and Hyderabad, up to ten journalists from regional German newspapers gained insight into the political, civic, and economic realities of India. Meetings and discussions with representatives from politics, business, science, civil society, and the media took place.
