School Meets Science
"School Meets Science" is an award for exceptional partnerships between teachers and scientists, whose commitment and innovative ideas are breaking new ground in helping to inspire school children to get actively involved in the natural sciences and technology. Patron is the German Federal Minister for Education and Research, Professor Dr. Annette Schavan.
With this prize, we are publicly recognizing projects in which the knowledge of researchers, the expertise of teachers, and the curiosity of students is combined and new forms of learning are created. In line with the motto "Ready, steady, research!", the Robert Bosch Stiftung aims to encourage others to create their own cooperations. We believe that everyone should be able to benefit from the experience of these prize-winning projects, all of which have successfully brought school children closer to the natural sciences and technology.
As well as a first prize of €50,000, there are two additional prizes of €20,000. The call for applications for "Science meets School" will be published in January 2012 and applications can be submitted online until 15.05.2012. After this deadline a shortlist will be drawn up and up to 20 projects will have the chance to personally present their project to the independent jury in Berlin. Based on the submitted application and the presentation the Jury will nominate up to 10 projects for the prize "Science meets School" which will be publicly awarded in Berlin in December.

"Curiosity is the basis for research and scientific knowledge. For students, the promotional prize 'School Meets Science' from the Robert Bosch Stiftung opens doors to science and allows them to get in contact with and even meet researchers. That is how real enthusiasm can be generated for both a degree in natural sciences and a professional career in research."
