New Fellowships Announced for the Program "International Understanding at School"
Stuttgart, October 29, 2008 – The aim of the scholarship program "International Understanding at School" is to convey the German language and culture to schools in Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe, as well as in China and Kazakhstan. Students and graduates are sent for three or six months to guest schools, where they assist German teaching and develop pupil projects. Around 310 fellows have already participated in the program, which the Robert Bosch Stiftung launched in 2001 and organizes together with the Pädagogischer Austauschdienst and the Zentralstelle für das Auslandsschulwesen. The program is being announced for the eighth time and the deadline for applications is February 1, 2009.
"International Understanding at School" is aimed at students and graduates in the teaching subjects German, Foreign Languages and Politics, as well as other human and social sciences, such as German as a Foreign Language or History. Students must be in their advanced study period.
During their fellowship, participants receive a monthly grant of € 800. One-off payments to cover travel and insurance costs are also made. Support is also provided to fellows attending preparatory language courses before traveling abroad. A German mentor and a local teacher provide support for the fellows in their guest schools.
