Initiative Science Journalism
The Initiative Science Journalism is a project run jointly by the Robert Bosch Stiftung, the Association of Foundations for German Science and BASF SE.
The Initiative will offer continuing training courses in science journalism as well as networking opportunities for science writers in Germany from the start of 2008 to the end of 2011. The aim of the initiative is to improve the independence and quality of science reporting in Germany.
It will offer introductory programs, continuing training seminars, research support, journalist trips and other events for science journalists. The first programs have already been announced. The 2008 conference “Wissenswerte” in Bremen will also be held in association with the Science Journalism Initiative. The three partners fund the initiative with more than € 500,000 per year. The offices of the Initiative Science Journalism are located at the Institute of Journalism at Dortmund Technical University.
The Initiative Science Journalism is the extension of the Science Journalism Qualification Program that was set up by the Bertelsmann Foundation, Volkswagen Foundation, and BASF SE in 2001 and ended in December 2007.
