„Grenzgänger“ – Research Trips to Central and Eastern Europe for Authors

Stuttgart, March 18, 2008 – Anyone wanting to discover Central and Eastern Europe, planning to publish about Central and Eastern Europe, or contemplating a research trip to the east can apply to the "Grenzgänger" program. We are looking for authors who want to see for themselves, gather first-hand information, and visit authentic locations. Their publications should reach a broad public, stimulate discussions, and help create a complex portrait of Central and Eastern European countries. We welcome literary prose and essays as well as scripts, text and photography volumes, and radio scripts.

Travel scholarships are available in the form of lump sum grants from 4,000 to 10,000 euros. An independent jury will evaluate the applications and select projects for sponsorship. "Grenzgänger" authors will also receive help in presenting their work at public events.
