DeutschMobil: Ten scholarships for teachers in France
Stuttgart, February 14, 2008 –Robert Bosch Stiftung is awarding ten scholarships for the DeutschMobil program to university graduates. They will spend eleven months in German cultural institutions in France, where they will visit regional schools. The program aims to interest school students, parents, and teachers in Germany and the German language by play-based teaching.
The project partners are Daimler AG, which has donated the vehicles since the project's inception, the Federation of German-French Cultural Institutions in France, and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
The scholarship holders will be sent to Aix-en-Provence, Caen, Dijon, Lyon, Montpellier, Nancy, and Paris. In addition, they will work as language assistants at universities in Bordeaux, Nantes, and Toulouse.
The DeutschMobil program was founded in 2001. Since then, teachers have visited over 4,500 schools throughout France, traveling over 550,000km in the process. In the wake of a visit from the DeutschMobil, enrollments in German as a first foreign language increase by up to 25% and enrollments in German as a second foreign language by up to 50%.
The scholarship program begins on September 1, 2008, and ends on July 31, 2009. The deadline for applications is March 20, 2008.
