ESOF 2004 in Stockholm
How does the human brain work? What is the state of modern nanotechnology research? How good is science coverage in the European news media? These were only a few of the questions addressed by the Euroscience Open Forum 2004, the first pan-European science conference, which took place in Stockholm in August 2004.
Approximately 1,800 representatives from science, the media, politics, education, and business attended lectures, symposia, and workshops as well as the "Science in the City" supporting program in Stockholm. The European Young Researcher Prize and European Science Journalism Prize were awarded during the event.
As a founder member of ESOF 2004, the Robert Bosch Stiftung was present in Stockholm and awarded twenty travel grants to science journalists from Germany and the USA to the conference.
