Incontinence problems in old age
The work forming part of the Research and Study Program on Geriatrics involves scientific investigation of incontinence problems in old age. It divides into the following four subprojects:
- Presentation on the management of incontinence problems, description of comorbidity and functional aspects in geriatric patients and the practicality of implementing international guidelines for nursing home occupants. (A deeper scientific assessment of the KIPS pilot scheme of Robert Bosch Stiftung)
- Description of the epidemiology of incontinence problems and their relationship to comorbidity and functional ability in elderly people living at home (incontinence-related analysis of ILSE longitudinal data in cooperation with DZfA Heidelberg).
- Investigation into the dependence on age of urodynamic statistical parameters in women with and without detrusor overactivity (in cooperation with the Department of Geriatrics and Institute on Ageing, University of Pittsburgh, PA, USA)
- Formulation of two research applications

- Combining mobility training and incontinence advice for geriatric outpatients.
- Study of catheter problems and their avoidance in geriatric patients in the domestic environment, inpatient institutions for the elderly and hospitals.
