Research and Study Program on Geriatrics

Program

The aim of the Research and Study Program ("Forschungskolleg") is to train doctors for senior positions in academic geriatrics. Graduates of the Program should have an extensive clinical and scientific understanding of geriatrics. They should be ready to take up relevant posts or reach the appropriate qualification level within a short space of time.

The program is aimed at doctors with at least two years' clinical experience who can convincingly show they envisage pursuing a career in geriatrics. They should also aim to reach a senior post-doctoral academic position. Their training as a medical specialist (or continuing training in clinical geriatrics) should in principle be completed within the fellowship period. The Robert Bosch Stiftung cooperates with seven clinical partners in Germany and Switzerland. Fellows are employed by one of these centers for the entire funding period.

Successful applicants are enrolled in the program and receive a grant for four years, during which time they are employed by one of the participating centers. Within this period, the foundation pays for the fellow to be released from clinical duties for up to two years to undertake research. Fellows may also apply for funding to cover the cost of equipment and travel as well as specific further education programs and attendance at conferences. All fellows receive supervision from experienced mentors for their respective research project.

An application is no longer possible; no further selection phase takes place.
