Journalists' prize for reporting on civic involvement – Deadline for entries: August 16, 2007

The "Journalistenpreis Bürgerschaftliches Engagement" aims to provide greater publicity for voluntary civic engagement. For the tenth year in succession, Robert Bosch Stiftung is honoring outstanding articles, reports, and commentaries that present and question civic involvement in an exemplary fashion, analyzing the contributions of civic society, why people take on such responsibility, and the conditions that enable this to happen. The foundation awards three prizes worth 5,000, 3,000, and 2,000 euros respectively as well as a special prize for series. Young journalists up to the age of 30 also compete for the 3,000-euro Marion Dönhoff Förderpreis, Entries from student journalists and voluntary workers are welcome.

The competition is open to editors from all departments as well as freelance journalists. Submitted articles must have appeared in German in a newspaper or magazine between August 16, 2006 and August 15, 2007. The deadline for entries is August 16, 2007. Editors-in-chief and department heads are welcome to propose articles for the competition.

The Journalistenpreis and the Marion Dönhoff Förderpreis will be presented in Stuttgart on December 8, 2007.
