Partnership for Civic Initiatives
Germany - Poland - Kaliningrad - Belarus - Ukraine
The Robert Bosch Stiftung and the Stefan Batory Foundation (Warsaw) instituted in 2004 a competition to promote trilateral cooperation between non-governmental organizations in Germany, Poland and the Kaliningrad region. In 2006, Belarus and the Ukraine were included in the program; the Ukrainian PAUCI foundation is the partner organization for Ukraine.
The project focuses on the joint development of initiatives to enhance civil society. The aim is to foster transnational contacts to support the cooperation partners in the Kaliningrad region, Belarus and the Ukraine in their efforts to develop civil society activities.
The objectives of the program are:

- To incorporate local initiatives into existing, successful German-Polish partnerships and integrate German partners into existing partnerships between Poland and its eastern neighbors;
- To encourage German NGOs in particular to explore possibilities for cooperation with Belarus, the Ukraine and the Kaliningrad region;
- To implement model projects to foster civic involvement and participation in local environments in the Ukraine, Belarus and the Kaliningrad region.
A joint project outline will be submitted to the Stefan Batory Foundation by the Polish and German partner organizations or to the PAUCI foundation by the Ukrainian partner organization not later than May 29. 2009. The selected programs will be supported for one year.
For the program year, the competition will be announced for the last time.
