To foster quality analysis and reporting on economic issues, enhance coverage on topics that are central to the region’s economic and political development and encourage regional networking among journalists, the Robert Bosch Stiftung and the Thomson Reuters Foundation initiated the Program "Economic and Political Reporting from Southeast Europe" in 2007.

Up to 16 journalists from  Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia and Turkey are competitively chosen to participate in the program. The program, run by experienced Thomson Reuters staff, includes two courses of two weeks each, in Germany and in the UK respectively. Participants also travel to Brussels and Frankfurt/Main to meet with policymakers, representatives from business, civil society and media.

In 2016, the first training takes place in London and Brussels from 10 to 23 April. The second part of the training is scheduled from 11 to 24 September in Berlin and Frankfurt/Main.

The deadline for applications was February 15, 2016. Further information on the program, selection criteria and application process can be found on the website of Thomson Reuters Foundation.
